Health secretary tests negative for COVID-19

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III tested negative for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), an official of the Department of Health (DOH) said on Sunday.

“Negative ang COVID-19 [test] result for Sec. Duque. He is okay,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire told Manila Bulletin in a text message.

In a radio interview, Vergeire said that they received the test result on Saturday night, March 21.

“The Secretary of Health is still working at home. Siya po ay nasa maayos na condition. Wala po siyang nararamdaman na sintomas [He is in good condition and asymptomatic],” she said.

Last March 19, Duque said that he was undergoing home quarantine after one of his department’s officials was tested positive for COVID-19. Duque had a direct contact with the said positive official.
