‘COVID-19 Ka Lang, Kabataang Pinoy Kami’: NYC to hold spoken poetry contest

By MB Online

The National Youth Commission (NYC) is calling the youth to make the most out of their time during the enhanced quarantine program by joining the NYC spoken poetry contest: “COVID-19 Ka Lang Kabataang Pinoy Kami.”

There will be two themes for NYC’s contest:

  • Activities youth can do inside their homes that can be productive for their family and their community
  • Expressing or showing gratitude and appreciation to our frontliners

The contest is open to 15-30 years old Filipino citizens and spoken poetry must be an original composition with title. It could be written in Filipino or in English.

Contestants must recite the piece in a two- to three-minute video. The video must be taken inside the home, entries taken outside will be disqualified.

Contestants may use instrumental or musical background.

Two soft copies of the written composition and the video must be submitted to nycyouthcontestgmail.com. The deadline of submission is on April 21 at 5 p.m.

Winners will be posted on the NYC Facebook page on May 4, 2020.
