PHAP supports gov’t efforts to ensure stable supply of medicines amid COVID-19 scare

The Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association of the Philippines (PHAP) expressed its support to the government’s effort to ensure that the supply of essential medicines remains stable amid the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) scare.

“PHAP member companies are looking very closely at our supply chains to ensure that essential medicines and vaccines are available for Filipino patients,” the organization said in a statement.

“Our members have a continuity plan to ensure that the supply of needed diagnostics and medicines is uninterrupted during emergencies,” it added.

The role of the private sector plays a vital role as the government tries to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the PHAP said.

“Pharmaceutical companies enable the research and development of innovations and technologies for the detection of the COVID-19, and in the ongoing search for its potential prevention and treatment,” said PHAP.

“Now more than ever, there is a need for strong public-private collaboration to contain health threats like COVID-19,” it added.

Meanwhile, PHAP also lauded the healthcare workers who are providing services to “patients in this time of public health emergency.”
