Locsin aired his disapproval on his Twitter account, stating the ban should not hang on the number of confirmed cases in the country.

“I will not support a travel ban to and from ASEAN Singapore. A ban should hinge not on the incidence and number of infections/fatalities but on the demonstrated capability of the state concerned to contain the disease and strictly regulate ingress and egress from its air/sea ports,” he said on Twitter.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III earlier said that they will be considering the travel ban in light of COVID – 19. However, he will have take it up with the inter-agency task force whether there is ground to include Singapore in the travel ban.

Over 200,000 Filipinos are in Singapore. In the latest report from the World Health Organization (WHO), there are currently 67 confirmed cases in the country.
